Racine man accused of abusing three-month-old baby

RACINE -- A 25-year-old Racine man is in custody and expected to be charged with child abuse. This, after a three-month-old girl in his care was brought to Children's Hospital of Wisconsin with severe injuries.

The infant was initially transported by Racine Fire Rescue to Wheaton-Franciscan All Saints E.R. on Sunday, February 26th. She was then transferred to Children's Hospital. The baby remains in critical condition.

Officers located the boy and the accused in the home. The boy was placed in the custody of Racine County Human Services and the accused was transported to the Racine Police Department. He was subsequently taken to the Racine County Jail on an unrelated offense.

On Friday, the accused was arrested for Physical Abuse to a Child. He's currently in custody in the Milwaukee House of Corrections. The Racine County District Attorney’s Office is expected to issue formal charges in the near future.
