Racine Co. Sheriff’s Office: Woman seriously injured in crash in Town of Burlington

RACINE COUNTY -- The Racine County Sheriff's Office says a woman sustained serious injuries in a traffic accident in the Town of Burlington Wednesday morning, September 9th.

It happened on Pine Street at the STH 83 bypass around 8 a.m.

When deputies arrive on scene they found a car and semi tractor involved. Officials say the injured operator of the car had gotten out of her vehicle and first aid was being administered by off duty medical personnel. Two small children had also been in the car strapped into their car seats.

Deputies say the children did not appear to have any injuries, but were transported to Children's Hospital as a precaution.

The female operator of the car was transported to Memorial Hospital of Burlington and then transported to Froedtert Hospital by Flight for Life for serious injuries.

The operator of the semi was not injured.

The initial investigation showed that the semi was making a left turn off of the bypass to head north on Pine Street, when it failed to yield the right-of-way for the car, which was heading west on the bypass.

The operator of the semi was cited at the scene for failure to yield right of way while making a left turn.
