Racine Co. Sheriff's deputies help to extinguish stove fire

RACINE (WITI) -- Racine County Sheriff's deputies were able to assist in extinguishing a stove fire on Sunday, March 30th.

Racine County Communications Dept. received a call for a stove on fire at a residence on Durand Avenue in the Town of Yorkville.

Upon arrival, two deputies observed heavy smoke coming from the residence.

They were advised by the female homeowner that she had used a fire extinguisher on the stove, but wasn't sure the fire was completely out.

The deputies entered the kitchen and found heavy smoke and flames coming from the oven. The deputies were able to extinguish the fire with a fire extinguisher.

Racine County Sheriff's officials say due to the quick action of these deputies, the fire damage was limited to the stove, and the immediate area around it.
