Police: Three teens arrested, suspected of armed robberies in Riverwest neighborhood
MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police arrested three suspects wanted in two strong armed robberies that happened just minutes apart in the Riverwest neighborhood.
District Five officers responded to the neighborhood near 8th and Chambers shortly after 10 p.m. on Tuesday, September 15th where a 29-year-old Milwaukee woman told officers she was walking when a male and female suspect approached her and demanded her phone. The suspects struggled with the victim and eventually took the phone from her before fleeing from the scene.
Officers from the same district were notified of another strong armed robbery that happened a short distance away around 10:20 p.m. A 20-year-old woman was approached near Bremen and Center by a male suspect who grabbed her cell phone from her hand before fleeing with a group of juveniles.
Officers on patrol located three suspects, who matched the descriptions given by the victims, near 1st and Brown around 11:45 p.m. Those three suspects, two 14-year-old boys and a 15-year-old girl, all from Milwaukee, were taken into custody.
Officers found the stolen phone from the first incident discarded near Bremen and Clarke.
MPD will present the case to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.
