Police seek driver in fatal hit-and-run crash on Milwaukee's south side

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Milwaukee police are looking for the driver who hit a man on Milwaukee's near south side -- and took off. The 34-year-old victim in this case died on Monday afternoon, November 24th.

The hit-and-run happened near 4th and National just after 2 a.m. on Sunday, November 23rd. Police say the suspect's vehicle is a black 2002 Audi Quattro.

Lyle Teskie often hears yelling and street noise around bar time along S. 2nd St. On Sunday, it was different.

"I looked out the window. that's when I saw something on the street," said Teskie. "I didn't hear an accident or car screech, I just heard a lot of commotion."

Teskie saw a man lying in the road -- and crowds of people yelling nearby.

On Monday, a tribute with balloons and candles marked the spot where the man was hit.

There are some cameras in the area -- including one pointed towards the street where it happened. The owners of a local restaurant also say they gave police video as well.

Police say it's unclear if alcohol was involved in this case. If you have any information that could help police in this case, you're urged to pick up the phone and call.
