Police say "Shamrock Shuffle" pub crawl was without major incident
MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Thousands turned out for the fourth annual "Shamrock Shuffle" pub crawl held in downtown Milwaukee on Saturday, March 9th.
It was not a perfect night, but police have said so far, the event has been without a major incident.
After a similar bar crawl last year, 28-year-old Thomas Hecht went missing. Days of searching followed, with friends from hundreds of miles away helping out. Hecht's body was eventually discovered in the Milwaukee River. Police believe he walked home by himself after a pub crawl.
"People seemed to be sticking in groups more this year and seemed to be looking out for each other," one pub crawler told FOX6 News.
"I think more people are paying attention more people are sticking with their friends like they should," Bartender Christine Platzer with Duke's on Water said.
Platzer said a successful Shamrock Shuffle played a role in a bar sales boost.
"Probably tripled what we normally do," Platzer said.
Carlene Miller of Bar Louis estimates the business saw a 30% to 33% sales increase.
"Things went really smoothly. We saw more business during the day than the evening," Miller said.
