Police looking for vehicle after kittens thrown from passenger window

NEENAH -- Two kittens are recovering after apparently being thrown from a moving car. Now, Neenah police are looking for who did it.

Investigators say it happened Saturday morning, July 28th near the intersection of South Commercial Street and Carriage Street.

The kittens are just a few weeks old.

"Animals do get abandoned. I haven't heard of one being thrown from a car window, but obviously to these two little kittens that's what's happened to them," April Pinnow with the Neenah Animal Shelter said.

A witness saw the kittens thrown from the window of a black Jeep Wrangler with a soft top. One kitten fell down a storm sewer. Neighbors and police were able to get it out with a net after about 45 minutes.

"Anytime an animal gets abused, especially kittens, it's so senseless. If you have animals you don't want just give them to the shelter," Neenah Police Lt. Jeff Malcore said.

The second kitten was found hiding under the hood of a car in a Copps grocery store parking lot just a few blocks down the road.

Both kittens are recovering at the Neenah Animal Shelter and are expected to be okay.

"I'd like to think these people just didn't know what to do and they weren't trying to hurt these animals, but we wont know for sure until we catch these people," Pinnow said.

Police say the vehicle was last seen heading South on South Commercial Street.

Anyone with information is asked to call Neenah police at (920) 886-6000. Anonymous tips can be left with Crime Stoppers at (920) 236-8477 or by texting IGOTYA and the tip to 274637.

The kittens are being held at the shelter for seven days. They will then be put up for adoption.
