Police investigating fatal officer-involved shooting in Wauwatosa

WAUWATOSA -- Wauwatosa police on Thursday night, July 16 were on the scene of an officer-involved shooting near Glencoe Circle and Bluemound Road.

Wauwatosa police tell FOX6 News a male suspect was shot and killed.

Officers responded to the scene at 9:20 p.m.

Neighbors tell FOX6 News they heard a series of gunshots, between six and seven, and then came the massive police presence.

There were no injuries to any officers.

Wauwatosa police say there are no suspects at large, and there is no threat to the public.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice was on scene Thursday night, as was the Milwaukee Police Department.

It appears MPD will take the lead in this investigation. Per state law, officer-involved deaths must be investigated by an outside agency.

This officer-involved shooting is the second one in a month for this department. In June, a detective was injured when he exchanged fire with burglary suspect Najee Harmon.

The investigation is ongoing.
