Police investigate series of armed robberies that led to pursuit, crash

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The Milwaukee Police Department is investigating a series of early morning armed robberies on Milwaukee’s northwest side that resulted in the arrest of two suspects and led to a pursuit and crash in Menomonee Falls.

The armed robberies happened at about 5:50 a.m. in the 4600 block of W. Villard Avenue, at about 6:00 a.m. in the 5300 block of N. 64th Street, and at about 6:10 a.m. in the 6900 block of N. 76th Street.

The two suspects involved in these crimes fled from the scene in a black, Chevrolet Suburban.

Just after 7 a.m., officers in District Four observed the suspect vehicle in the 7500 block of W. Mill Road and pulled the vehicle over.

The driver, a 34-year-old Milwaukee man and convicted felon, surrendered at the scene.

The passenger, a 24-year-old man from Minnesota, slid over to the driver’s seat and fled in the vehicle.

District Four officers pursued the vehicle into Menomonee Falls and just before 7:15 a.m., the suspect vehicle crashed into a white van near the intersection of Lilly Road and Mill Road.

Two occupants inside the van were taken to a local hospital for treatment of what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the fleeing vehicle was arrested and also taken to a local hospital for cautionary purposes.

A phone stolen in the N. 76th Street robbery was found in the suspect’s vehicle.

Officers also found a pistol and multiple cell phones believed to be from other robberies.

MPD will be presenting the case against both suspects in the coming days to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office.
