Police investigate fatal shooting near 3rd & Main

RACINE (WITI) -- Racine police are investigating a fatal shooting that took place early Saturday, March 29th near 3rd and Main.

Officers were dispatched to the scene shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday -- and once on the scene discovered a man suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to Wheaton Franciscan Hospital where he later died.

A bar owner in the area told FOX6 someone ran in from the street last night and asked an employee to call police.

"This is, as I said, an anomaly -- and not the kind of publicity anyone wants for their neighborhood, whether it's residential or commercial," said Mary Kaprelian, who owns a business near the scene. "Would rather talk about the healthy instincts of our neighborhood and what we've done to restore these old buildings."
