Police investigate after 55-year-old woman shot, injured in Racine

RACINE (WITI) -- Racine police responded to a call of an assault near Douglas Avenue and Prospect Street Tuesday morning, February 4th.

Upon arrival and further investigation, it was determined that the 55-year-old woman had been shot. She was conscious and alert.

The victim was taken to Wheaton Franciscan Hospital and later transferred to Froedtert Hospital for further treatment.

This is an active investigation at this time.
