Police arrest suspect in armed robbery, recover stolen car and electronics
MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Milwaukee police arrested a suspect wanted in the armed robbery of three teenage victims. District 7 officers were dispatched to the neighborhood near 57th and Hadley just after 7 p.m. on Monday, July 7th and were met by three males who stated they had just been robbed.
The victims were a 14-year-old male from Milwaukee, a 15-year-old male from Milwaukee and a 16-year-old male from Illinois. They told officers they were walking on the sidewalk when they saw two subjects exit a red SUV. The first subject pointed a gun at the group, demanded their valuables, and stole a cell phone and an electronic tablet. The two subjects then fled in their vehicle.
About an hour later, officials say officers from the Neighborhood Task Force were flagged down near Washington Park by an off-duty sergeant. The sergeant said he saw a stolen vehicle, the red SUV used in the earlier armed robbery, traveling in the area. The officers located the SUV and two suspects fled from the vehicle on foot.
One of the suspects was taken into custody and Milwaukee Police continue to search for the second suspect.
It was discovered that the vehicle was stolen earlier in the day in an armed robbery on N. 51st Street. Inside the SUV were the items taken from the teenage victims along with other stolen cell phones.
The suspect is a 20-year-old Milwaukee man and is currently on parole supervision from an earlier conviction of fleeing from an officer.
This case will be presented to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s office in the coming days.
