Pilot identifies possible problem on flight scheduled to land at Mitchell

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- FOX6 News has learned a U.S. Airways flight was in the process of landing at General Mitchell International Airport on Monday evening when a pilot on board identified a routine mechanical issue and declared an emergency as a precaution.

A Mitchell Airport spokeswoman says it happened around 7:45 p.m. Monday.

An airport spokeswoman says a possible problem was identified on the plane, and the flight landed safely and taxied to the gate. A U.S. Airways spokeswoman says passengers were not told to brace for any impact -- and the plane landed normally, and travelers exited the plane as normal.

The plane was scheduled to land at General Mitchell International Airport.

A U.S. Airways spokeswoman says it was Flight 4097 from Philadelphia. The plane was holding 50 passengers and three crew members.
