Pig intestines spilled on interstate, slows traffic during evening rush

MILWAUKEE -- Motorists driving on northbound I-43 near Bender Road encountered a bit of a messy situation during the evening rush on Friday, April 15th.

The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office tells FOX6 News a truck from Illinois lost about 500 pounds of pig intestines from its load shortly after 4 p.m. Those pig parts spilled onto the northbound lanes of I-43 near Bayshore Town Center.

The spill created a somewhat slippery situation on the freeway. The North Shore Fire Department was dispatched to the area to hose down the roadway. Officials say no accidents resulted in the spill.

The Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office tracked down the truck responsible for the spill and stopped it. But no citations were issued.
