SEATTLE (WITI) -- On to Seattle! The Green Bay Packers face the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks in Seattle Sunday, January 18th for the NFC Championship game -- and some Packers fans may be looking to make travel arrangements for this weekend. Short-notice flights aren't cheap, and Seattle is a pretty long haul by car, so while there's lots of interest in the game, ticket brokers and travel agents say many Packers fans are being cautious at this point -- perhaps waiting to see whether heading to Arizona for the Super Bowl may be money better spent.
It takes about 29 hours to get to Seattle from Milwaukee by car, and it's a nearly 2,000-mile trip -- so flying is the quicker option -- but already, flights for this weekend are filling up, as are hotels in the Seattle area.
Even so, some Packers fans are mulling the price, and taking some time to think it through before they book.
"It is tough because you've got less than a week to prepare to fly out to Seattle," Jim Bryce with Ticket King said.
But for those willing to make those preparations, Bryce has game tickets.
"For outside seats, club seats, kind of in the end zones, upstairs, between the thirties downstairs, you're looking at anywhere between $500 to $1,500 for something really, really good," Bryce said.
Folks at Fox World Travel, located on Moorland Road in Brookfield started taking calls as soon as the Packers vs. Cowboys game was over Sunday!
"We do have packages to the game. I think what we're seeing is if I had to make a decision between Seattle and the Super Bowl what should I do? It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to go to an NFC Championship game -- or do I feel so confident and comfortable that they are actually going to be playing in the Super Bowl game I'm going to save my money and time off to do that?" a Fox World Travel official said.
A hotel, fan party and end zone game ticket will cost about $950 with Fox World Travel. Fox World books with the Packers Fan Travel Group in order to get official tickets.
As for airfare, that is still being worked out. Travel agents are helping folks on a case-by-case basis.
"The more flexible you are, the better off you're going to be with regards to price. Can you go out of Chicago? Do you have to go out of Green Bay? Could you look at Madison? Could you add a day at the end?" a Fox World official said.
Already, Fox World officials say, some Packers fans are calling not about this weekend's game -- but the next step: the Super Bowl in Arizona.
"If the Packers do make it, we're actually putting together some sort of package - yes," a Fox World official told FOX6 News.
There are those fans who will fly out to Seattle without a ticket -- hoping they'll find one there. Ticket brokers and travel agents say that's risky, and they encourage fans to watch out for scams.
