Over 8,000 runners to take part in Summerfest Rock 'n Sole Run Saturday, June 13th

MILWAUKEE -- Over 8,000 runners are expected to take part in the Summerfest Rock ‘n Sole Run, presented by BMO Harris Bank, which includes a half marathon, quarter marathon and the Big Gig 5K.  The event is set for Saturday, June 13th.

Proceeds will benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs or Greater Milwaukee and Summerfest Foundation, Inc.

In partnership with SHARP Literacy, Summerfest Rock ‘n Sole Run is also excited to host Kids Run to Read, for kids ages 3-12.

In honor of the fifth anniversary, the Big Gig 5K is themed, featuring a costume contest and course entertainment.

All participants are invited to dress up as their favorite artist and have the chance to win great prizes at the end of the race, including tickets to a Marcus Amphitheater show.  Prize categories include: best male or female artist, duo or group.  Also, new this year is a redesigned 5K course, which will run along the Lakefront and Lakeshore State Park and provide a much more scenic route.

The run is followed by a fabulous post party from 7:00 a.m. – noon on the south end of the Henry Maier Festival Park, featuring a performance by the Prince Experience, food and beverage, charity and sponsor village and more.

Opening ceremonies are set for 6:30 a.m. to 6:45 a.m., with the half and quarter marathons and the Big Gig 5K are set for 7:00 a.m. The Kids Run to Read event will take place at 10:00 a.m.
