One person is dead following a crash involving five vehicles near Hartford

HARTFORD (WITI) -- Dodge County Sheriff's officials tell FOX6 News one person is dead following a five-vehicle crash occurring near Hartford on Tuesday evening, September 16th.

It happened just after 6:00 p.m. near Highway P and Highway 60.

The preliminary investigation shows that a pickup truck traveling eastbound on State Highway 60 struck the rear of another vehicle that was stopped due to a traffic backup near County Highway P.

Officials say numerous vehicles traveling eastbound on State Highway 60 were stopped when the pickup truck failed to stop, striking a vehicle.

This collision caused a chain reaction crash. Five vehicles were involved.

There were a total of 12 people in the five vehicles, six of whom were injured and transported to Hartford and Summit hospitals for treatment.

One person was killed as a result of the crash. That person has been identified as 69-year-old Cheryl Notz of Warren, Missouri.

The crash remains under investigation by the Dodge County Sheriff’s Department Crash Investigation Team.
