One of Philadelphia's "Most Wanted" arrested in Appleton
Michael Young
APPLETON (WITI) -- U.S. Marshals have arrested Michael Young, one of Philadelphia's most wanted.
Young was charged in Philadelphia with rape, sexual assault, use of unlawful restraints, false imprisonment, terroristic threats and indecent exposure.
In November 2012, Young allegedly coerced a female victim into a vacant lot after seeing her walking down the sidewalk and offering to let her use his phone to get a ride home. Once there, Young held the female at gun and knifepoint and sexually assaulted her. The female was able to escape and call 911 after Young fell asleep.
Approximately two years later, the Philadelphia Police Department received a DNA match from the state of California indicating a match was made connecting Young as the assailant. Information was received by the U.S. Marshals that Young was living in Appleton.
On Tuesday, June 17th, members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force and Appleton Police Department observed Young on S. Summit St. in Appleton. They converged on Young and were able to take him into custody without incident. Young was booked into the Outagamie County Jail and is awaiting extradition to Philadelphia.
