One killed in crash on I-94 near Moorland Road; alcohol and speed appear to be factors
BROOKFIELD (WITI) -- The Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department and the City of Brookfield Police and Fire Departments responded to a report of a vehicle rollover on I-94 westbound, east of Moorland Road, early Tuesday morning, July 15th.
The first deputy on the scene found a vehicle on its side in the north ditch line of I-94.
There were two occupants located outside the vehicle.
The first occupant, a 33-year-old man from Milwaukee, was unconscious and appeared to have been ejected.
He was transported to Froedtert Hospital by Flight for Life.
The second occupant, a 31-year-old man also from Milwaukee, was transported by ambulance to Elmbrook Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The 33-year-old man succumbed to his injuries and was pronounce deceased approximately two hours later.
The initial investigation indicates the vehicle was traveling westbound on I-94 in the left lane when the driver lost control, crossed all lanes of traffic and left the roadway.
Upon leaving the roadway, the vehicle rolled at least once, coming to rest in the ditch line on the north side of I-94.
Both alcohol and speed appear to be factors in the crash.
This incident remains under investigation by the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department.
