Oconomowoc man arrested after striking officer in the head

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- A 23-year-old Oconomowoc man was arrested by Milwaukee police after he struck a District 5 officer in the head.

The incident occurred after officers on patrol in the 2600 block of N. Bremen Street noticed a man spray painting graffiti at about 2:10 a.m. on September 16.

Police say when officers approached the suspect, he fled on foot.

During the foot chase, the suspect struck one of the officers several times in the head.

The suspect was taken into custody and among other charges faces a felony count of battery to a police officer.

The injured officer was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries and has since been released.

He is 41-years-old and is a seven-year veteran of the Milwaukee Police Department

. MPD will present charges in this case to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.
