North Milwaukee Street construction project begins October 21

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Beginning Monday, October 21st, North Milwaukee Street from East Menomonee to East St. Paul Avenue will be resurfaced with a new asphalt pavement. In addition, new medians will be installed in the roadway that will host a variety of trees, shrubs and perennials.

The planting beds will provide a mix of color and textures, while the median will help with traffic calming in this area.

“We are excited about the new Milwaukee Street project,” said DPW Commissioner Ghassan Korban. “Adding the boulevard and the planting beds means more greenery for this area, while the median itself will help to make the roadway safer for travel.”

Traffic patterns during construction: One lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained.

Parking changes during construction: There will be NO PARKING on N. Milwaukee St. during the project.

The completion date for the paving part of the project is November 23, 2013. The plantings in the median will be completed under a separate contract in Spring 2014.
