National Weather Service warns of dangerous swimming conditions at Lake Michigan beaches

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Beach Hazards Statement for dangerous swimming conditions which will be in effect from Sunday evening, July 27th through Monday evening, July 28th.

The statement indicates there will be high wave action, strong currents, possible rip currents and dangerous swimming conditions.

The NWS  indicates beaches from Sheboygan to Kenosha will see particularly dangerous conditions. Those beaches include:


    The NWS says high wave action makes swimming difficult and can tire even a strong swimmer quickly. Also, structural currents form along piers where longshore currents and wave action can flow into the structure.
