Muskego couple offers $1,000 reward after safe stolen with something extremely precious inside
MUSKEGO -- Criminals in Muskego break into a home and steal a safe -- and now money, jewelry and prescriptions are gone. But there was something more important than money in the safe and the family it belongs to is begging for its return.
Carol Bomback
The burglary happened just before Christmas.
"I'm shocked," said Carol Bomback.
Bomback never thought she'd become the victim of a home burglary.
"I just don't know why someone would do something like that," said Bomback.
It happened weeks ago, sometime between December 19th and 24th. A burglar broke into her Muskego home and stole her safe.
"Someone had to know exactly where it was," said Bomback.
They took thousands of dollars worth of belongings.
"All my life savings. My checks were in there, social security, birth certificates," Bomback said.
But that's not what makes her most upset. Inside that safe were some of her son Chad's ashes. He died in May. The family wanted to spread his ashes in Hawaii one year later.

"That's just devastating," said Bomback.
Bomback and her husband are offering a $1,000 reward, hoping someone knows something.

"The minute I realized my son's ashes were gone, that's when we decided to come up with the reward," said Bomback. "This is a human being. Even though he passed, he's still a human being."
Bomback says at the very least, whomever took the safe should return the ashes.
Anyone with information about the stolen safe should contact the Muskego Police Department at (262) 679-4130.
