MPS students learn about bicycle safety at State Fair Park
MILWAUKEE -- Kids love to ride their bikes in the summer, and Thursday, May 17th, hundreds of Milwaukee Public Schools students learned how to ride them safely.
It was all part of the "Winners Wear Helmets" event held Thursday at Wisconsin's State Fair Park.
600 Milwaukee third graders were given a fitted bike helmet and were able to take part in an interactive and educational bike rodeo!
"They get to come out, they get to ride their bikes, and for those kids who haven't had the opportunity to ride very often before, we have a station set aside where they are getting some one-on-one attention, and getting a better chance to learn how to ride a little bit safer," Lisa Klindt-Simpson with Safe Kids Southeast Wisconsin said.
All the helmets given away were donated by the Habush Habush & Rottier charitable foundation.
