MPD officer on motorcycle struck by vehicle outside Summerfest grounds
MILWAUKEE -- A Milwaukee police officer on a motorcycle was struck by a vehicle just outside the Summerfest grounds Thursday evening, June 29th. Officers moved in quickly to help.
Police say at approximately 8:25 p.m. a Milwaukee Police Officer was struck by a vehicle while directing traffic at the intersection of E. Harbor and N. Lincoln Memorial Drive.
As the officer directed traffic, a motorist operating a small SUV, disregarded the officer’s commands and attempted to drive around him, at which time the officer was struck by the vehicle.

After striking the officer, the motorist fled the scene. The motorist was located a short distance away and was arrested without incident.
The officer is approximately a 7-year veteran of the Milwaukee Police Department and is a member of the Motorcycle Unit. He was conveyed to a local hospital where he is being treated for injuries sustained from the accident.
The investigation is on-going.
