Milwaukee police: Two arrested in connection with armed robbery in Riverwest

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police arrested two suspects wanted for an armed robbery in Riverwest just minutes after the crime happened.

According to police, a 25-year-old woman and a 27-year-old woman were walking near E. Center Street and N. Pierce Street around 11:15 p.m. on August 7th when two men approached them.

One of the men had a cloth covering an object, that the victim believed was a handgun, and demanded one of the woman’s belongings. One of the suspects then hit one of the victims and took her wallet, money, and cell phone before fleeing from the scene on foot.

Responding officers from District Five located the two suspects a short time later nearby and arrested them. While chasing one of the suspects on foot, officers found the stolen wallet and money that had been discarded by the suspects.

The suspects are an 18-year-old Milwaukee man and a 31-year-old Milwaukee man.

Investigators are determining whether the pair may be responsible for other recent armed robberies in the area.

MPD will present the current case for charging to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.
