Milwaukee police: Teen injured in attempted burglary, arrested at hospital
MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- District 7 officers arrested a teenage suspect at a local hospital after he showed up there for treatment of an injury suffered in an attempted burglary.
According to police, a citizen contacted police at 9:30 a.m. on September 3rd when she heard glass breaking at her neighbor’s home in the 3600 block of N. 39th Street. She saw a suspect holding his hand as if he injured it before he fled with three other suspects.
Officers on scene found a large amount of blood around the broken window and contacted St. Joseph’s Hospital to see if they admitted any patients with that type of injury.
A 15-year-old Milwaukee male was receiving treatment at the hospital and matched the suspect description.
He was taken into custody and police are still searching for the other three suspects.
The teenager admitted to being at the burglary scene but denied breaking the window.
The case will be presented to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.
