Milwaukee police shoot armed robbery suspect
MILWAUKEE-- An armed robbery suspect was shot by Milwaukee police after they say he pointed a gun at officers. It happened just before 8:00 p.m. near 49th and Center in Milwaukee.
According to police, uniformed officers on foot patrol in the area were flagged down for a subject with a gun. Police say they found the suspect with a pistol in his hand. The man allegedly refused to drop the weapon, but instead raised and pointed it at officers.
A Milwaukee police officer with five years of experience fired at the suspect, hitting him in the lower extremities.
Police say the 22-year-old suspect has a lengthy criminal history. They say he is believed to have suffered non-life threatening injuries.
The officer involved was placed on administrative duty, which is standard protocol following an officer-involved shooting.
Police continue to investigate the incident.
