Milwaukee DPW says city’s “four-inch” rule has now expired

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The Milwaukee Department of Public Works says the four-inch ruled was lifted in the City of Milwaukee Monday morning, December 23rd.

The rule says if marked, drivers should not park on streets until plows have had a chance to clean to the curb.

Check for posted signs first for winter parking regulations on those streets where you plan to park or click here.

If there are no posted signs, click here for more information, or call 414-286-CITY (2489) – 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The Department of Public Works also offers a text message alert system called Snow Mobile-Winter Text Alert, which informs subscribers when the city declares a snow emergency or when the “four-inch rule” goes into effect. Sign up for this alert at milwaukee.gov/mpw.
