Milwaukee church fire near 24th and Auer
MILWAUKEE - Firefighters responded to the scene of a church fire near 24th and Auer in Milwaukee early Wednesday morning, June 17.
What we know:
According to the Milwaukee Fire Department, crews were dispatched to the scene shortly after 6 a.m. Upon arrival, they found smoke coming from the building, but no heavy fire.
"This particular church appears to have been abandoned for quite some time," said Schuyler Belott, Assistant Chief of Operations, Milwaukee Fire Department.

One firefighter was transported to the hospital after falling through a set of stairs. His condition is unknown at this time.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
