Milwaukee child care center damaged in evening blaze
MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- A fire on Thursday evening, November 14th at the Carter Child Development Center in Milwaukee is under investigation.
The Milwaukee Fire Department responded to the center on W. Vliet Ave. around 7:15 p.m. as heavy smoke poured out of the building. The center had been closed for the day.
The fire was extinguished and We Energies is assessing the damage to the building's electrical and gas systems.
No one was inside the building and no one was injured in the incident. Officials say the building will not be usable on Friday.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
