MFD battles 2-alarm fire at former 'Escape' nightclub near Teutonia and Mill

MILWAUKEE -- Firefighters battled a two-alarm fire at a large building for more than five hours Sunday morning, May 20.

The fire broke out around 1 a.m. at an abandoned building that used to house the "Escape" nightclub near Teutonia and Mill. Crews got the fire under control, but part of the structure did collapse due to the flames.

Fire officials said the fire was extinguished shortly before 6 a.m., and they were then working to extinguish hot spots.


No injuries were reported. A damage estimate hasn't been released.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
