Men's Health Month: Milwaukee Health Department hosting resource event
MILWAUKEE (WITI) – As men’s health month is celebrated nationally and locally, the City of Milwaukee Health Department (MHD) is recognizing the month by hosting a Men’s Health Resource Event on Monday, June 16th.
The event is planned from 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at the City of Milwaukee Health Department Northwest Health Center at 7630 W. Mill Rd., Milwaukee.
“Men’s Health Month is a reminder for men of all ages to prioritize healthy behaviors,” said Mayor Tom Barrett, who proclaimed June Men’s Health Month in the city of Milwaukee.
The MHD Men’s Health Resource Event will provide free screenings for blood pressure, HIV, STDs, depression and child development as well as information about accessing health care services and programs supporting fatherhood, family planning, job search readiness, driver’s license recovery, child support advocacy, and more.
Attendees will also be treated to a “Brother to Brother” talk hosted by men’s health website BrainBrawnBody.com, a martial arts demonstration and more.
“We know that men tend to access health care services less than women,” said Commissioner of Health Bevan K. Baker. “Our goal is to encourage all men to take advantage of the events and services offered.”
