Memorial Day storms: Main threat will be potential for locally heavy rainfall
MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- After an absolutely gorgeous weekend -- with warm temperatures and sunny skies -- Memorial Day on Monday, May 26th brings a chance for showers and thunderstorms.
FOX6 Meteorologist Justin Zollitsch says Monday morning should be mainly dry -- but there is a slight chance for showers and thunderstorms.
The threat for storms increases as we head into the afternoon hours on Monday.
Zollitsch says high pressure is settled to our southwest -- and low pressure will settle to the northeast.
Wisconsin is stuck in the middle -- and southwesterly winds will bring with them warm air.
With dewpoints in the 60s -- we could see some humidity on Monday.
The warm and humid air is expected to fire up some showers and thunderstorms.
Zollitsch says you MAY need an umbrella for Milwaukee's Memorial Day Parade -- set for 2:00 p.m.
Zollitsch says those that have outdoor plans scheduled for Monday afternoon and/or evening should have a Plan B -- or be sure to bring an umbrella -- as showers and storms are expected to continue through Tuesday.
Zollitsch says the potential for severe weather should be pretty low -- but we could see locally heavy rainfall with some of the slower-moving storms.
These slower moving, soaker storms could also bring with them the potential for flooding.
We'll see limited chances for rain on Wednesday -- and then the remainder of the week looks to be dry.
