Medical examiner: "Bottles of alcohol" found on motorcycle that crashed, killing a man

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The victim of a fatal motorcycle crash that happened on Canal St. in Milwaukee late on Saturday, April 18th has been identified as 46-year-old Joseph Hernke of South Milwaukee.

According to a report from the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office, Hernke "reportedly hit or jumped the curb at the scene." Hernke was found "approximately 40-50 feet away" from his motorcycle. The report also says "bottles of alcohol had been found on the motorcycle involved in the crash." Hernke was not wearing a helmet.

A 44-year-old Milwaukee man was riding behind Hernke on a separate bike and was arrested for OWI at the scene.
