Medical examiner: 2-year-old dies at hospital after bunk bed incident on September 21st

MILWAUKEE -- Officials with the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office say a two-year-old child who was seriously hurt after becoming trapped between a bunk bed and a wall on September 21st in Milwaukee has passed away.

The child died at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin on Sunday, September 25th.

The two-year-old boy has been identified by the medical examiner as Kindell Jefferson Roberts. His death has been ruled an accident.

The incident happened on the morning of September 21st at a home near 101st and Jonen Street -- around 10:45 a.m.

According to the medical examiner's report, the child was found hanging between a wall and an upper bunk bed by a cousin.

The boy's mother wasn't home at the time, and the child was being cared for by an aunt.

The medical examiner's report indicates it appears the child tried to climb down the back side of the bunk bed when he became trapped between the wall and the bed.

The two-year-old boy was taken to the hospital -- where he passed away on the 25th.

The investigation is ongoing.
