Mark Neumann asks for money to pay bills from losing Senate campaign

MADISON (AP) -- Multi-millionaire and former Republican U.S. Senate candidate Mark Neumann is asking for more money to help pay $152,000 in leftover bills from his losing campaign.

Neumann made the plea in a fundraising email sent Monday, September 24th saying he doesn't have any money left in his campaign account.

Neumann is a real estate developer who reported his net worth to be between $6 million and $18 million. He came in third in the August Republican primary that Tommy Thompson won.

Neumann says in the email he wasn't counting on the bills that have come in from vendors and small businesses who helped in his campaign.

Neumann says he ran a "lean campaign that pinched every penny we could'' and it "pains'' him to ask for more donations.
