Man surprises wife of 27 years with Valentine's Day billboard: "She just totally lost it"

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana -- Patrick Sullivan says his wife normally asks for modest gifts on Valentine's Day -- but he had something different in mind this year.

"When I was driving north on Emerson Avenue, I saw these billboards and I thought 'hmmm -- that would make a really nice big Valentine's card, you know?'" Patrick Sullivan said.

"I think he really went overboard. I have the biggest card I guess I could say!" Patricia Sullivan said.

For Valentine's Day -- Pat surprised Patty with the billboard. It reads: "Pat and Patty forever. 27 years and counting. You complete me. Love, Pat."

"I just started gasping and crying -- just like 'oh my gosh, I can't believe it,'" Patricia Sullivan said.

"She just started crying and she just totally lost it and it was really exciting. That's what I wanted -- to surprise her and let her know how special she is and let her know that these 27 years have been great for me," Patrick Sullivan said.

Pat and Patty married in 1988 and have three children and a new grandchild.

So do these two have any advice for a long and happy marriage?

"We just take it day by day and just try to love each other and show each other that and communicate. I don't know how he's going to top (the billboard) -- and I don't know really what I'm going to do for him!" Patricia Sullivan said.
