Man in custody following tactical situation in Waukesha

WAUKESHA (WITI) -- Police in Waukesha on Wednesday afternoon, August 27th arrested a man following a tactical situation that occurred near Fleetfoot Drive and Tomahawk Drive.

The call came in shortly after 4:00 p.m.

Law enforcement officials had streets blocked off in the area, and the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department sent its armored vehicle to the scene -- along with a K9 unit.

Officers were called to the scene for a report of some sort of domestic incident, and a report of an armed, intoxicated man.

Negotiators were eventually able to get the man out of an apartment, but once he was out, he was uncooperative as officials were giving him commands.

The man was eventually taken into custody after law enforcement officials tased him, and used "less lethal" weapons to subdue him. He was taken to the hospital with very minor injuries.

We're told the man is a former member of the military and he may have been armed.

Police say he was also intoxicated.
