Man hospitalized after ingesting controlled substance, resisting arrest in Kenosha

KENOSHA -- A 52-year-old man was taken to the hospital after authorities believe he ingested a controlled substance and resisted arrest Friday evening, February 19th.

The incident took place near 28th Avenue and 41st Street in Kenosha.

According to the Kenosha Police Department, officers attempted to take the man into custody on an outstanding felony Department of Corrections warrant. The man appeared to ingest a probable controlled substance and resisted arrest.

Officials say a taser was deployed and officers were able to gain control of the man.

Police say he was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment -- there were complications due to this ingestion of the substance.

The 52-year-old man is currently receiving treatment at a local hospital.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice, Division of Criminal Investigation now looking into this incident.
