Man accused of sexually assaulting stepdaughter pleads not guilty

FREDONIA (WITI) -- A Fredonia man is accused of sexually assaulting his 12-year-old stepdaughter -- and police say the girl's mother arranged for it to happen.

FOX6 News is not naming the man, in order to protect the identity of the victim.

The man pleaded not guilty to three charges related to the sexual assault: first degree child sexual assault, child enticement and incest by a step parent.

Police say the sexual assault happened on a quiet block in Fredonia, in Ozaukee County. They say a 44-year-old man sexually assaulted his 12-year-old stepdaughter while the girl's mother watched.

That man went before an Ozaukee County judge on Thursday, and pleaded not guilty.

According to criminal complaints in the case, the sexual assault was calculated. The man had allegedly been asking his wife if he could have sex with both her daughters for the last three years.

In April, according to criminal complaints, the woman agreed to it.

Court documents say the wife brought her 12-year-old daughter "into the bedroom," and "sat with her on the bed."

The suspect was "lying on the bed, under the covers," and then assaulted the girl.

When it was over, the child's mother took the girl to a bathroom to shower.

Authorities say the girl told another family member who reported it to police.

The man involved in this case awaits trial in an Ozaukee County Jail.

The child's mother is not in custody, but is undergoing an evaluation. She is expected to be taken into custody sometime next week.
