La Crosse man arrested for 5th OWI near CTH C & I-94

WAUKESHA (WITI) -- 44-year-old Brian Hafner of La Crosse was arrested Tuesday, September 17th by a Wisconsin State Trooper for operating a motor vehicle under the influence, 5th offense. Hafner also had a revoked driver’s license and was on probation for operating while intoxicated.

According to police, the trooper stopped Hafner shortly before 7 p.m. at CTH C and Interstate 94 with the assistance of the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department deputies. Prior to the stop, Hafner caused three accidents in the area of Wales and the Town of Delafield.

During the traffic stop, the trooper detected the odor of intoxicants, and based on field sobriety tests, placed Hafner in custody for operating while intoxicated. Hafner was transported to Waukesha Memorial Hospital for a legal blood draw.

Hafner is being held at the Waukesha Sheriff’s Dept. on charges of operating while  intoxicated 5th offense, operating after revocation 2nd offense, violation of court ordered ignition interlock device as well as a probation violation.
