Judge: Walker aide will be on trial, not Gov. Walker

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- A Milwaukee County judge says he won't let the upcoming trial for a former Scott Walker aide turn into a referendum on the governor.

Judge David Hansher said Monday, September 24th he'll emphasize to jurors that Kelly Rindfleisch is on trial, not Walker. He also says neither side may ask potential jurors about their political preferences or for whom they voted in the last governor's election or the recall election.

Rindfleisch used to be Walker's deputy chief of staff when Walker was Milwaukee County's executive. She's accused of doing campaign work on county time.

The 43-year-old has pleaded not guilty to four felony counts of misconduct in office.

Prosecutor Bruce Landgraf and defense attorney Frank Gimbel both declined comment after Monday's hearing. Rindfleisch's trial is set to begin Oct. 15.
