“I’m about to bust you in your mouth!” 13-year-old boy flees Juvenile Justice Center, prompting foot chase

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee County Sheriff's officials say a 13-year-old boy threatened his case manager and social workers outside the Juvenile Justice Center -- before fleeing the center, resulting in a foot chase that left one deputy injured.

It happened on Monday, August 3rd, around 4:30 p.m.

Sheriff's officials say the 13-year-old boy caused a disturbance outside the Juvenile Justice Center. The boy was in the process of being released from the Juvenile Justice Center into the custody of his case manager and two social workers -- set to be transported to the Lad Lake group home.

Sheriff's officials say the boy threatened the case workers, saying, “I’m about to bust you in your mouth!”

He appeared to be about to strike the case worker, who flinched in fear, and he then fled.

The boy is accused of ignoring deputies’ orders to stop, and they apprehended him after a short foot pursuit.

One deputy was injured in a fall during the chase.

Sheriff's officials say the boy complained of an ankle injury and was taken to the hospital for evaluation.

After being medically cleared, he became combative – spitting, kicking, slamming his head, throwing his body around, and being verbally abusive towards medical staff and deputies. Deputies placed him in belly chains, leg restraints and a spit mask to protect those around him.

He was transported back to the Children’s Detention Center and placed in a restraint chair.

This incident comes less than one week after a 16-year-old boy was able to get a gun into the Juvenile Justice Center.

FOX6 News is told the gun was brought into the facility by the teenager after he was arrested for being in a stolen vehicle.

Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele says the 16-year-old was searched three times -- twice by Milwaukee police and once by someone at the detention center. No weapon was found during those searches.

The gun was discovered when it fell to the floor. It had apparently been hidden in the teen's rectal area.
