Hundreds of bikers roll out to Washington, D.C.

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- It's an unforgettable trip that hundreds of Milwaukee bikers have been taking for more than twenty years. It's called Rolling Thunder.

Hundreds of bikers from Milwaukee and thousands from across the country make the journey to Washington, D.C.  Along the way, they honor the fallen, prisoners of war and those missing in action.

"There's not been any closure and the families deserve that and that's why we ride," organizer Mark Herrmann said.

Many of the bikers are veterans.  It is an emotional trip so many take part in year after year.

"You come back and you're a little better person because you went out there and left some of your emotions," participant Robert Thompson said.

Most of the bikers will return from D.C. on Monday.
