Hit-and-run crash leads to fatal shooting on Milwaukee's north side

Fatal accident near 31st and Hope in Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- One person is dead after a hit-and-run crash and a shooting. All of this played out shortly before 11 p.m. on Friday, August 29th on Milwaukee's north side.

Police say it all started near 27th and Hope with a hit-and-run crash. The driver apparently left the scene, but lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a pole a few blocks away -- near 31st and Hope.

Officials say a second person, possibly associated with the vehicle in the hit-and-run incident, then came to the scene of the second crash -- and shot the person who crashed into the pole. That person died at the scene. Police say that person is a 45-year-old man.

Police say a passenger in the vehicle wasn't injured.

The results of an autopsy will determine the cause of death. No one is in custody.
