Groups gather in support of President Obama's gun violence prevention plan
MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Several groups gathered on Thursday, January 17th in support of President Barack Obama's gun violence prevention plan at Milwaukee's City Hall.
Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett was on hand, along with one of the survivors of the Sikh Temple shooting.
They want Congress and the American public to act quickly and decisively when it comes to enacting legislation.
"To ensure that members of Congress respond to the American people I am asking citizens to contact their members of Congress and let them know how important it is that they support this initiative," Mayor Barrett said.
One major point of President Obama's plan is universal background checks on firearm sales.
Also included is a ban on high-capacity magazines and armor piercing rounds.
