Governor Scott Walker to make campaign stops with Senator Ron Johnson
MADISON — U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson plans to make campaign stops around Wisconsin with Gov. Scott Walker this weekend.
Johnson and Walker, both Republicans, will appear in Wisconsin Rapids, Clinton, and Kimberly on Saturday, April 16th.
The trip marks Johnson's first major campaign swing through the state as he tries to fend off a challenge from former Democratic U.S. Sen. Russ Feingold in a rematch of their 2010 race. The contest is crucial to Democrats' hopes of recapturing a Senate majority.
Johnson raised about 60 percent less than Feingold during the first three months of the year but Walker is enjoying a resurgence within Republican circles after he helped deliver Wisconsin for GOP presidential hopeful Ted Cruz in last week's primary. Walker's name also is floating around as a possible vice presidential candidate.
