FOX6 News speaks with man who recorded east side brawl

MILWAUKEE -- A driver tried to mow down people on a sidewalk on Milwaukee's east side, and it was all caught on camera. Now, police are investigating. On Monday, December 24th, FOX6 News spoke with the man who hit record on his camera to capture this incident.

On Saturday night, December 22nd, police responded to a disturbance on Milwaukee's east side. By the time police arrived at the scene, the incident caught on camera was over -- but now that the video has surfaced, police are looking for the individuals and vehicles involved.

Lorelei Pepi and Ann Torke stood where it all happened on Monday, and watched the viral video taken late Saturday night.

"Really crazy drama. I'm amazed there weren't smashed up cars and people in the hospital. Pretty nuts!" the girls said.

Steven Greenwood recorded the whole thing from his apartment window.

It appears one of the women tried to leave the scene in her car. Then, another woman smashed her headlight. The driver retaliated by driving into the other woman. 

The driver then backed up, drove onto the sidewalk and tried to hit the other woman again several times -- taking out a parking meter in the process.

"If she had timed it just right, then we wouldn't be talking about the parking meter being the only casualty here," Greenwood said.

The driver then drove the wrong way down Farwell Avenue before getting out of her vehicle and tossing her shoe.

Another man was recording from a different angle, and made light of the very serious brawl -- taking the shoe as a souvenir. 

At the scene on Christmas Eve, there was plenty of evidence of Saturday night's brawl.

"Broken bottles and of course, the broken parking meter. Somebody was ripping hair out of somebody," Bob Kashou, who owns a carpet store nearby said.
