Fire officials: Family dog dies in house fire in Village of Richfield on Wednesday afternoon
VILLAGE OF RICHFIELD (WITI) -- Fire officials on Wednesday afternoon, July 23rd responded to a fire at a home on Moraine Drive in Richfield.
Washington County Sheriff's officials say just after 2:30 p.m., a neighbor notified the Sheriff's Office of the fire.
Deputies and firefighters from the Richfield Fire Department were dispatched to the scene. Assistance was requested from several other departments.
Upon their arrival, fire officials noticed flames coming out of a roadside window.
The fire was brought under control in a matter of minutes -- but Mayfield Road between Holy Hill Road and Hubertus Road were closed for about an hour-and-a-half to facilitate overhaul and cleanup operations.
No one was home at the time of the fire -- and no one was injured.
But unfortunately, officials say a dog died in the fire.
Damage to the home and its contents is estimated at $150,000.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
